New Obsession

I have a new obsession thanks to one of my fave blogs Bakerellahttp://www.bakeitpretty.com/

I was inspired last night by some interesting pairings at Kyotofu such as green tea creme brulee with lychee sorbet with green tea paste, it got me thinking about two things:

1. All the delicious flavors that could be combined with creme brulee, which is definitely one of my all time favorite desserts. I MUST buy ramekins and master this new art.

2. I should be more experimental in my cupcake flavors.  For example... I love cardamom (especially in coffee), but normally wouldn't consider baking with it... but Bakeitpretty, has inspired me.  OOh, and this one too... I'm thinking an apple based cupcakes with a sugar glaze and THIS

Still waiting on moving into my new apartment (the stuff *SHOULD* be on a truck somewhere between NY and California), but don't worry, I'm using SousChef to keep track of all the delicious sweets I can't wait to make and share with everyone who will partake. :)

Welcome...

So, I figure I write about one of my passions, running and fitness, and I figure I should show you the OTHER side....  how I replenish those calories burned.  :)

I *plan* to use this blog to post pictures of my cupcakes, cookies and anything else delicious that comes out of my kitchen (once I finally get moved into my new apartment).

To start, here's a gallery of a few of my past creations:

Sunflower Cupcakes for a baby shower. Buttery vanilla cupcakes with buttercream and a chocolate candy center

Chocolate chip cookie dough cupcakes Brown sugar based cake with frosting that is essentially an eggless cookie dough mixed with butter cream

Lemon strawberry- What better way to use fresh farmer's market strawberries?  Lemon emulsion mixed with white cake makes this super lemony without being too tart.  Fresh strawberry cream cheese frosting.

Pumpkin spice cupcakes with cinnamon cream cheese frosting.  (I revisited these later without the pumpkin candy and made the frosting thicker and won the hearts of the entire party I took them to)

Coconut cream pie- my favorite custard pie with fresh whipped cream.
